Take a step back, to the late 1700s when Rockford, North Carolina was formed on the Yadkin River bank above the White Rock Ford. The town was established to be the County Seat of Surry. Bustling with the government's business and the legal workings of it's citizens, Rockford was a busy town until 1850 when the county of Yadkin was split away.

The county seat was moved and Rockford's location between high hills and the river, along with lack of good transportation limited growth. Then in 1890 a branch of the Southern Railroad came through town. The town boomed with trade. For more than thirty years a center of activity, the lack of a bridge across the Yadkin along with the decline of the railroad led to a quieter time.

We're located in an old general store built in 1850,

the Dudley Glass Store building.
